Grandma’s House
A funny, heartfelt celebration of being young, family, and the things that stay with us even after we say goodbye.
A Junior IMPACT production presented by The Empire Youth Arts

#A brand new play by Grace Sankey with The 2026 Junior IMPACT Ensemble
In a little old house, in a little old town, a big, wild group of cousins take over Grandma's House. Every holiday, long weekend and Christmas they spill in from their different lives and straight into the same games, arguments, play and chaos.
Before, Grandma’s House never really changed. Same old rules, same old routines, same old walls echoing with every version of them that’s ever been. A place built from childhood memories (the Grandchildren's and their Parents’ before them) brought back to life by the chaos only family can create.
Now, the Grandchildren are back again, but things are different—Grandma’s not there.
While they try to pick up where they left off—jump back into old games, old jokes, old versions of themselves—change seems to be getting in the way. With their parents hovering just out of sight, a memory eating monster in the driveway and goodbyes getting frighteningly closer, the cousins begin to realise that this visit simply cannot be the same.
Told through fast-paced ensemble narration, physical movement, and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, Grandma’s House is a funny, heartfelt celebration of being young, family, and learning that some places don’t disappear even when we leave them, from the perspectives of some of Toowoomba's youngest storytellers.
