Blending comedy, drama, physical theatre, mime, and ensemble storytelling, the performance showcases emerging local creatives exploring character, scriptwriting, directing, and devised theatre practice.

Created within a supportive community theatre environment, these works celebrate imagination, collaboration, and the development of new voices in regional performance.

The project reflects Starlet Creative Industries’ commitment to building confidence, creativity, and community connection through the performing arts.

Marianne ~Buchanan~

Marianne Buchanan

Marianne Buchanan is a theatre-maker, educator, playwright, and the founder of Starlet Creative Industries and Starlet Creative Hub.

Passionate about storytelling and community connection, Marianne creates opportunities for emerging artists to build confidence, develop original work, and bring their ideas to life on stage.

Her plays have been performed throughout South East Queensland, including through the Empire Theatre's Homegrown Independent Program and the Queensland One Act Play Festival circuit.

Through Starlet Creative Industries and Starlet, Marianne delivers workshops, masterclasses, puppetry programs, and creative development opportunities that support artists of all ages to create, collaborate, and grow.

"From Page to Stage" celebrates that journey—showcasing original works developed through the Starlet Creative Industries Theatre Masterclass Series and the power of community theatre to inspire connection, confidence, and creativity.

James ~Kerwin~

James Kerwin

James is a deaf mime artist, actor and a qualified and registered teacher. He has a teaching background in Auslan teaching to hearing students and English literacy to deaf students. James returned to the performing arts after many years in education. He is passionate about physical storytelling, visual theatre and mime performance. James is interested in developing original mime works, colloborative theatre projects and delivering mime workshops for both young people and adults. He brings a unique perspective to performance through movement, expression and inclusive creative practice. James has been attending Starlet's weekly theatre classes and appreciates the local outlet for his art. He has just returned from doing a mime intensive course in Italy and he is keen to further his work in mime

From the founder Wynnum Fringe comes Queensland Fringe presented in partnership with The Empire.

Queensland Fringe is a new arts festival launching in 2026 that will see The Empire transform into a two-day hub of creative activity, giving audiences the chance to experience an exciting mix of comedy, music and live performance, while also providing a platform for emerging local artists to showcase their talents alongside established performers.
