Michael Balk - Host and presenter
Michael Balk is a presenter and host whose two-decade career spans TV, stage, radio, and film. As a science communicator, he starred in the TV show BrainBuzz as renowned comedic character Einstein! Widely acclaimed for his contributions to Australian children’s entertainment, Michael plays inventor and science whiz scrapboy from the Emmy Award-winning dirtgirlworld and Get Grubby TV. Passionate about wildlife, Michael spent years clad in khaki at Australia Zoo as their lead presenter. With over 1400 episodes of TV under his belt, he’s ready to wrangle the brilliant minds of the Battle of the Brains!
Sue Ray - Captain
Winner of the 2022 Blues’n’Roots QMusic award, Sue Ray is singer songwriter with her own authentic country/blues and roots sound. Sue is known for her charismatic performances, her passion and humor, and ability to connect with any crowd.
Sue has been recognised with three QMusic awards (for the categories of Folk, Indigenous, and Blues’n’Roots), and holds multiple nominations including Best Country Album at the AIR Independent Music awards, Female Artist of the year at the QLD Music Awards, and Most Promising New Talent at the Deadly Awards.
Currently Sue is working as the First Nations Music Officer at QMusic and is passionate about supporting, elevating and celebrating the vast array of incredible First Nations artists in Australia.
