2024 Youth Bursary ~Recipients Announced~

In a ceremony held at The Empire’s Armitage Centre today, 31 talented young artists were honoured as more than $23,000 in bursaries was awarded to develop skills and give new experiences to young people who demonstrate talent, involvement and achievement in a performing arts discipline.

This year’s recipients will attend short courses at top Australian arts institutions including National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), Queensland Theatre, Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Queensland Ballet, Dalcroze Australia, Cuskelly College of Music, and more.

The Youth Bursary program will this year send recipients to courses in a wide range of disciplines including acting, musical theatre, theatre design, classical music, dance and choral singing.

The Empire Foundation Chairperson, Janelle Fletcher said the 2024 round of applicants were all incredibly talented with creative concepts and goals in mind.

“We saw an amazing group of students who are working incredibly hard to achieve their goals and excel in their different fields,” said Ms Fletcher.

As we look to the future, it’s so important to embrace and invest in the arts and further the cultural experience and development of these young aspiring artists. It’s these very young people who are the future of the arts in this country.
