#What do books remember that we forget?

The Next Chapter: Things Left in Books is an evening of music, memory, and the quiet fragments we never meant to keep… letters, photographs, pressed flowers, souvenirs and moments left behind between pages.
Set inside an intimate, living-room world, these forgotten pieces are brought gently back to life through music, song and story.

Presented by Shoebox Theatre Company and delivered and curated by The Accidentals, this is The Next Chapter. More memories added to the highly successful Things Left in Books from the 2025 Homegrown Series.

Come be a witness. A space to slow down, to listen, and to feel something real again for just three shows.

It was never lost. Just waiting to be found again.

#What They Said About Things Left In Books 2025

I thought it was absolutely beautiful. I saw the show and I cried at the hymns story. It reminded me of my grandmother. There was a variety of stories, and there was at least one thing that would have hit or met each person.

Andrew

Books opened, stories shared, the things in the books, symbols to tell ordinary stories of ordinary lives, resonating with us all. I teared up at the first memories of reading at night while feeding babies. Oh my goodness! Then the sublime singing of the songs that punctuate our lives. Then came the musicians. The amazing talent nearly outshone the story. Nearly, but not quite, the authenticity of the story held true.
Thank you to everyone who was involved in this life affirming production.

Nadine

Staged in the Empire Theatre Church, THINGS LEFT IN BOOKS may have been the perfect way to warm the heart on a cold night in Toowoomba. Using a curation of musical works arranged for voice and brass, the show explores everyday, intergenerational stories of motherhood, love and loss through narrated vignettes

Ben

A beautiful night, enjoying a warm, intimate musical performed by a very talented crew and cast. Things left in books.  A love story to books and to all those that cherish them. Thank you.

Kelly
