When two teens are cast opposite each other in a play based on a centuries-old love story, they find themselves falling into a romance of their own. As the relationship blossoms and the pressure of opening night builds, the lines between their story and the story of the myth they are performing become increasingly intertwined, until one story becomes inseparable from the other.
Daffodils is a bold and emotionally resonant new work made by passionate young artists in Toowoomba looking to explore the spectacular ways art can begin to imitate life.
At its heart, it's a story of cycles: of endings and beginnings, destruction and rebirth, and the resilience it takes to find your voice and begin again. Like the first flowers emerging after winter, it is a celebration of hope, transformation and the possibility of new beginnings.
Developed as part of the The Empire's Homegrown Independents Program, Daffodils combines heartfelt storytelling with striking original staging in an intimate theatrical experience that speaks to young audiences while resonating across generations.
