“It is good people who make good places.” – Anna Sewell
Since its inception ten years ago, our IMPACT Ensemble program has strived to create new Australian works for, with, and by young people. This year, to continue our dedication of elevating youth voice and perspectives, the program has expanded beyond the Toowoomba region for the very first time. Over the past five months, the 2020 Dalby IMPACT Ensemble has worked with creatives to devise a story which speaks to their experiences of growing up in a rural town.
In a place where everyone knows everyone, and each day passes much the same as the last, a tribe of young friends follow the creek east of town, wander off track, and find themselves at a part of the world they’ve claimed as their own – an abandoned road work site. There, they share time, stories, and dreams with each other as the sun sets and the stars fill the open night sky. But, change is as inevitable as the next day’s rising sun and how these young locals choose to face it will determine what lies on the road ahead.
The 2020 Dalby IMPACT Ensemble is: Laila Bond, Rohan Cartwright, Charlotte Kelly, Darcy Laffy, Emily McRae, Tess Routley, Charlotte Wood, & Hayley Woodward
The Dalby IMPACT program is supported by the Regional Arts Development Fund via Western Downs Regional Council and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
