SALES FOR THIS SHOW ARE CURRENTLY SUSPENDED WHILE DISCUSSIONS WITH TOUR OPERATORS CONTINUE
In 2019, listeners to ABC Classic voted Ludwig van Beethoven Australia’s favourite composer in their Top 100 Composer countdown. Why is Beethoven so popular? We think it’s because his music appeals to everyone – if you know a lot about music, you can enjoy his masterful compositions and the amazing technical challenges for the musicians who perform him.
One of Beethoven’s best received works, his seventh Symphony, has enchanted audiences ever since its first performance. Full of rhythmical wit and energetic dance-like sections, it also includes the famous Allegretto, which was featured to accompany The King’s Speech by King George VI as played by Colin Firth.
Beethoven’s Romance No.1, originally written for solo violin, will be performed tonight by Queensland Symphony Orchestra‘s Principal Flute, Alison Mitchell.
The Fantasy Overture captures the Shakespearean drama of Romeo and Juliet in an almost cinematic score for orchestra. Tender love, energetic fights and soul wrenching rdrama are set to music by Pyotr IlyichTchaikovsky in this symphonic masterpiece.
Queensland Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Australian born Maestro, Alexander Briger. Having conducted many of the world’s best orchestras and now based in France, he has been honoured in the 2016 Australia Day Honours List as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished services to the arts as a leading conductor, and as founder, Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Australian World Orchestra.
