Patterson’s tree is scheduled for removal.
John, a council contractor, has been tasked with removing the tree for the establishment of a new road. The problem? Abbie, a local university student on summer break, has chained herself to the tree in protest. Imprint is an episodic, non-linear play that deals with the local history of the tree and the impact it has had on the residents of the town.
Imprint, directed by Robert Masters and written by Jo Pearson in conjunction with the Downlands College Drama Club, explores significant moments in the formation of Australian identity from war to immigration to gender roles. Will Abbie save the tree? Will John get to the pub to have a drink with the boys? And most importantly, who will get the last Pringle?
