The Empire Theatres will welcome the appointment of Mr Andrew Wielandt as the Chair of the Empire Theatres Pty Ltd Board of Directors, following the resignation of long serving Chairman, Professor Peter Swannell AM who will officially step down in October 2017.
As a member of the Empire Theatre’s Board of Directors since 2007, forthcoming Chair, Mr Andrew Wielandt is the managing partner for Toowoomba based wealth management business, Dornbusch Partners. Mr Wielandt is also Deputy Chair of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation and is past President of the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Prof. Swannell has served as Chairman of the Board since the inception of the Empire Theatres Pty Ltd in 1999.
‘This Theatre continues to be a leader in the arts and entertainment industry locally, regionally and, often, nationally. Staying on top does not get any easier as the years go by and I felt now was the right time to hand over the reins.’ Prof. Swannell said.
As the sole chairman since the formation of the Board of Directors, Prof. Swannell has served with immense dedication and distinction through periods of great development and change within the Empire Theatre’s precinct, including the official inclusion of the Empire Church Theatre and the construction of the newest venue, The Armitage Centre.
Empire Theatres General Manager Kerry Saul said Professor Swannell had a lot to be proud of as his time as Chairman.
“The 20th year celebrations have been a wonderful culmination of what has been achieved since the Theatre reopened in 1997 and reflect the great input and advice Professor Swannell has provided as the Chairman of the Board since 1999.
“Prof. Swannell and his wife Janice are long term supporters of the theatre, with Mrs Swannell originally being on the Empire Restoration committee. They assure us they will remain great supporters of the Empire and expect to be regular patrons in the future.”
