The popular Morning Melodies series returns to the Empire Theatre on August 18 with Broadway Favourites, taking place during the state-wide celebration of Seniors Week from the 13-21 August.
Directed by highly accomplished director and choreographer Alison Vallette, director of the highly successful Empire Theatres production of Mary Poppins and recently announced director of the highly anticipated Empire Theatres major production Wicked in 2017, Broadway Favourites marks the first time the Empire Theatre has independently produced a Morning Melodies show.
Audience members will be enthralled by the talents of local stars as they sing their hearts out to the sounds of classic Broadway, and dance along to the contagious beats of musical theatre.
Ms Vallette promises a morning of perfectly carried out choreography accompanied by timeless music.
“Songs from Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Annie, Mary Poppins and many more will be sung and danced by well-known and talented local artists,” said Ms Vallette.
“Broadway and the shows thereon, are iconic! By listening to or watching these familiar numbers, we, for a short while, allow ourselves to be transported to another world.”
Ms Vallette also alluded to the return of the two young stars who portrayed Young Peter Allen from the Empire Theatres 2011 production of The Boy From Oz.
Presented by Beauaraba Living, the Morning Melodies series will continue on October 13 with a second showing of Back to the Tivoli before concluding on December 15 with Tenori’s Christmas performance.
