The Empire Theatre is thrilled to host the modern and innovative retelling of the eternally classic Swan Lake with Melbourne Ballet’s Archè on August 10.
In Greek Mythology Archè indicates the beginning; the principle from which the elements rise and the force that explains their birth and death.
Director Simon Hoy has created a delightful and creative show with unique choreography that simultaneously captivates the essence of the original narrative and its classical repertoire.
Inspired by a series of works including The Dying Swan and Yates’ sonnet Leda and the Swan, Archè is accompanied by the music of Tchaikovsky, Einaudi, Arnalds, Morricone and acclaimed cellist Joan Jeanreanaud.
The show is a moving tribute to the symbolism of the swan in Greek and Irish mythology, showcasing the grace and divinity of the animal in each gesture.
"Exquisite is the only word to describe Melbourne Ballet Company's latest production Archè!"- The Melbourne Observer
