A massive year of exciting entertainment for local audiences was unveiled last night with the launch of the Empire Theatres 2015 Season.
Headlining the 2015 Season is the Empire Theatres major in-house production of the classic musical full of magic and adventure, Mary Poppins.
Empire Theatres General Manager, Kerry Saul said Mary Poppins, proudly presented by Heritage Bank, was a great follow up to the success of The Phantom of the Opera earlier this year.
“We are very excited about presenting a show that is a favourite of so many and with auditions ongoing I have no doubt we will find a sensational cast,” he said.
Returning in 2015 are favourites Queensland Ballet with Coppélia, Moscow’s Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty, Imperial Russian Ballet’s Swan Lake, Opera Australia’s The Magic Flute and Queensland Symphony Orchestra with Movie Masterpieces.
“The 2015 Season has a wide range of performance with a fantastic children’s program including The 26-Storey Treehouse, I am Jack and a very funny show from The Listies as well as some wonderful music for the adults including Suzi Quatro, John Butler Trio, Dewayne Everettsmith and The Cowgirl and the Showgirl,” Mr Saul said.
“Our selection of drama is exemplary this year with Queensland Theatre Company’s Boston Marriage and Kelly as well as Bell Shakespeare’s Hamlet and the incredible war storytelling, Flak,” he said.
“Comedy will also make up a good part of our program with Ross Noble early in the year followed by the Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow and the Sydney Comedy Showcase.”
The popular Morning Melodies series returns for 2015 with Back to the Tivoli, John McNally, The Beggars Sing the Seekers and Tenori making up this year’s line-up.
“While there are many performances announced as part of this Season Launch, rest assured there will be so many more shows going on sale as the year progresses,” Mr Saul said.
Following the successful introduction of the Empire Card in 2014, offering discounted ticket prices and bar purchases, the 2015 card offers additional benefits including special offers with Fitzy’s on Church and Toowoomba’s first chocolateria, Cioccolato.
