Award winning circus company Circa bring their fast and energetic show to the Empire Theatre’s Armitage Centre on September 21.
Combining vigorous tumbling, cheeky gameplay and sublime aerial work, Circa’s Hopscotch explores tender and playful relationships through contemporary circus, taking the audiences on a surreal journey of jaw-dropping acrobatics.
Intricate and lyrical, this daring new creation showcases the circus skills of Circa Zoo, Circa’s performance program for talented people ranging from ages 8-18.
Prior to this performance, Circa Zoo will host a two day workshop giving the chance for young people to try their hand at circus skills including hula-hoops, juggling, tumbling, acrobalance and more.
With options for beginners with no prior experience or advanced participants, the workhops are led by specialist Circa trainers the workshops will teach participants circus skills in a fun and supportive environment before they showcase those new skills in a pre-show performance before Hopscotch.
Based at Brisbane's Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, Circa has been at the frontier of new circus since 2004 – creating powerful works of circus art that challenge, thrill and delight. Featuring an ensemble of multi-skilled circus artists under the direction of Yaron Lifschitz, Circa’s award-winning works have been seen in 32 countries across six continents.
