West End Tenor Joins 50 Local Voices this Weekend

Choral singing makes a return to the stage with Love and Other Lessons this Saturday and Sunday at the Empire Theatres’ Armitage Centre.

Presented by the Empire Theatres and Toowoomba Philharmonic Society, Love and Other Lessons features soloist and West End Tenor and Empire Theatres Foundation Brian Boak Bursary recipient, Paul Tabone and the Sing On Project Choirs.

This performance is the culmination of the Sing On project, which was designed to revive choral singing activity in the community after COVID-19 restrictions were eased.

After three rounds of choral rehearsals earlier in 2021, each with their own Vocal Leader in Cherie Vera, Calista Walters and Joshua Clifford, Love, and Other Lessons takes the best from each project round in an incredible performance of more than 50 local voices.

Love, and Other Lessons is hosted by ABC Southern Queensland presenter, David Iliffe and a solo performance from former Empire Theatres Foundation Brian Boak Bursary recipient and highly successful West End tenor, Paul Tabone.

Featuring opera and classicals works from La Traviata, Carmen, HMS Pinafore, Nabucco and Verdi and Mozart, Love, and Other Lessons is presented by the Empire Theatre in association with the Toowoomba Philharmonic society.

The Sing On project was made possible by the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.
