NAIDOC Week 2021

It's NAIDOC Week and the 2021 theme is Heal Country! This theme calls for all of us to continue to seek greater protections for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites and our cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction.
In honour of NAIDOC Week and the First Peoples of this Nation who express their culture through music, dance and storytelling, the Empire Theatres has commissioned First Nations Artist, Kim Walmsley, to paint a custom piece of Art for the Theatre which we can't wait to reveal.
This image is another of Kim's beautiful pieces, titled Tera. 'As the dust settled and the rivers calmed themselves. The animals wake to find their way amongst the lands. The spirit fathers took place over different parts across the country. Practicing and keeping to the wise councils set before them from the old ones as their guide to building their clans and Tribes. This wisdom supported and enabled stability and longevity of the longest continuing culture in the world. The Earth Totem people of the world. The Koori people of Australia.'
