Local musical theatre stars, Shannon Gralow and Justin Tamblyn will be back on stage at the Empire Theatre on August 1 with song and dance performance Love Sick.
As part of the reopening program of events, Love Sick is the fourth performance in the Empire Strikes Back series, following Project 62, The Beamish Brothers, Camerata and Cool Nights Big Band.
Love Sick includes the highs and lows of romance on and off stage mirrored through iconic duets, swirling dance sequences and songs from the silver screen through to stage blockbusters and classics.
Rising musical theatre stars Shannon and Justin share their real-life romance through music and dance in this unforgettable performance.
Both are multi-threat performers, Shannon with the voice of an angel, dance expertise and acting ability and Justin’s history with tap dancing professional with Hot Shoe Shuffle, children’s entertainment and a striking tenor voice.
The couple are Empire Theatre audience favourites, after originally meeting when cast as Mary and Bert in the 2015 Empire Theatres Mary Poppins, displaying electric on stage chemistry.
Their strong attraction and shared love of musicals saw them cast as a couple again for Into the Woods as Cinderella and the Baker and again in the 2017 Empire Theatres production of Wicked as Glinda and Fiyero.
Last September, their romance culminated as Justin arranged a surprise proposal as part of the finale of a season of My Fair Lady, where Shannon had the lead role as Eliza Doolittle.
Originally limited to 100 people, more tickets have been released for Love Sick due to the further easing of government restrictions.
The Empire Strikes Back series celebrates the safe reopening of the theatre to limited audiences following the closure period brought about by government restrictions to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The series continues with country music artist, Mick Lindsay on August 8.
