After leading the Empire Theatres 2018 cast of EssGee’s Pirates of Penzance as the Pirate King, Michael Cormick returns to the Empire Stage.
Performing alongside soprano Claire Lyon, Michael takes on the first Living Gems Toowoomba Daytimes Series performance of the 2019 Season.
The duo will perform favourite songs from shows including The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Cats and Beauty and the Beast.
Michael Cormick was the original Beast in Beauty and Beast in Australia, before travelling to London’s West End to play the role of Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera. Since then he has played the role of Phantom back here in Australia. Last year, Michael was seen in the role of Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar at the State Theatre, Melbourne, before taking on the lead role in the Empire Theatres production of Pirates of Penzance, receiving great reviews.
Claire Lyon is one of the few actresses in the world to have been involved in both The Phantom of the Opera and its sequel, Love Never Dies, in which she performed the same role of Christine. She has toured internationally including a sell-out tour with her friend Josh Groban. Later this year, Claire will perform in Thoroughly Modern Millie in Melbourne.
