Empire Theatre favourites, The Grigoryan Brothers, return to the Church Theatre on Friday 5 October for a performance based on their latest release, Songs Without Words.
Widely regarded as Australia’s finest guitar duo, The Grigoryan Brothers, Slava and Leonard, are known for taking classical guitar into genres such as jazz, folk and contemporary music,
Songs Without Words sees a return to their classical repertoire and includes songs by composers such as Bach, Elgar, Dvorak, Rachmaninoff, and Ponce, masterfully arranged for the brothers by their father, Edward.
This performance includes many works highlighting Slava and Leonard’s diverse skills and classical training; their deep appreciation of a board spectrum of musical styles results in a unique sound incorporating countless influences. It’s not jazz, it’s not world music, it’s a sound that is unique to the Grigoryan Brothers.
