Audiences from the Toowoomba region and beyond have the opportunity to see the comedic and unique story of a misfit finding her way come to life on stage when it tours the Darling and Southern Downs.
Appearing in the Empire Church Theatre on Wednesday 29 April, Everything Must Go will also travel to Clifton, Crows Nest, Millmerran, Warwick, Yarraman, Cambooya, Miles and Oakey.
Written and performed by Rachel Leary and directed by three times Barry Award nominee, Damian Callinan, ‘Everything Must Go’ is the comedic and poignant story of eccentric recluse, Nancy Browne.
Absurd, deadpan, charming and disarming, Nancy Browne’s world is fabulously unique. She’s lived in the same house, the same valley all her life. The valley has changed, with city people moving in, bringing with them new ideas and new ways. And now, the farm has been sold. A developer has bought it and is going to create a suburb on it called ‘Perfect Ponds’. The wider world has encroached and Nancy has to make sense of it.
Set in Tasmania’s Huon Valley, Nancy delights the audience with show and tell, drawing out family stories from the items she is selling in her sale, as well as highlighting her original take on the world.
Everything Must Go is a show that manages to be very funny, noticeably original and quite moving, touching on some important issues and themes about society and family while at the same time celebrating and enjoying the ridiculous.
An Acting Masterclass with Rachel Leary is available on Tuesday 28 April for adults and teenagers from age 13.
