The Empire Theatre is searching for talented cast members for their upcoming 2018 major production, Essgee’s Pirates of Penzance.
Audition information packs are now available on the Empire Theatres website for actors, singers, backstage singers and dancers with auditions to be held in late October and early November.
Empire Theatres General Manager, Kerry Saul said EssGees unique brand of Gilbert and Sullivan gives Pirates of Penzance a modern sound, while retaining the original arias, and great laughs that rival the best of Broadway.
“We are looking for high quality talent both locally and regionally, and Pirates of Penzance provides a lot of opportunities for the community to be involved,” Mr Saul said.
“I have great confidence that we will find a fantastic cast, who will be excited to work with our exceptionally talented creative team, and bring this story to life with a lot of laughs on and off stage,” Mr Saul said.
“Pirates of Penzance is the next in a long line of very successful, high quality productions from the Empire Theatre including Wicked, Legally Blonde the Musical, Mary Poppins and The Phantom of the Opera.”
“This production will open Wednesday, March 14 in 2018.”
Internationally recognized Melbourne-based Director, Terence O’Connell said he was looking forward to getting started on rehearsals.
“Firstly, we are looking for folks who can sing the score. But we will also be looking for people with great comic skills and I will be searching for performers who have strong physical and circus style skills too,” Mr O’Connell said.
